This targets lipid glucose metabolism as well inflammation by downregulating ATP citrate lyase upregulating of AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK). The main effect to reduce cholesterol synthesis in liver, its use generally not associated with undesirable muscle disorders. can processes gluconeogenesis, which leads an improvement insulin sensitivity, features metabolic syndrome. anti-inflammatory bempedoic mainly achieved activating AMPK pathway immune cells, helps level C-reactive plasma. effects on course atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, type2 diabetes chronic liver disease have been evaluated randomized clinical trials require further research. Phase III safety trial show tolerated combination statins, ezetimibe, or proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 inhibitors achieving target levels low-density lipoprotein cholesterol. aim this review analyze mechanisms action, potential describe existing evidence trials. search was done Scopus, Science Direct (from Elsevier), PubMed databases, including Medline. following keywords were used: acid, cholesterol, diseases, diabetes.
